Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
I am multi-lingual licensed psychotherapist in private practice specializing in trauma and the emotional and somatic impact of violence on the individual and communities - whether it’s racially or gender-charged violence or the destruction of our planet - grief, anxiety, trauma, shame, feelings of despair and anger are all part of it. As faculty of the International Center for Mental Health & Human Rights, I have facilitated contemplative based trauma and resiliency trainings locally and internationally to communities on the frontlines. In my work with you, I pay attention to how constructs such as power, race, gender, socio-economics, and sociopolitical environments impact the individual, family, and community identity, well-being, and health. Traumatic experiences happen within a social context and are shaped by social and climate-related conditions. Tailoring my approach according to your concerns, challenges, and unique socio-cultural background feels essential in our work together. I have been working with adults and adolescents in the mental health and education field since 2005. I graduated from the California Institute for Integral Studies with a Master’s Degree in Integral Counseling Psychology and hold a Social Work degree from Hochschule Niederrhein in Germany. I offer individual and group psychotherapy in my office in Boulder, CO. As a psychotherapist, I take an integrative approach that includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, EMDR, neuroscience, climate-awareness, social justice, and contemplative-based trauma and resiliency training. My work predominantly focuses on survivors of traumatic experiences as well as challenges related to shame, self-esteem, racial and multicultural identities, and climate distress. As a climate-aware psychotherapist, certified in climate psychology and member of the North America Climate Psychology Alliance, I am passionate about understanding the immediate mental health impacts of climate related disasters and long term stressors of living with the reality of climate change over time. I believe that learning emotional resiliency skills with ways of motivating effective action and creating intentional moments of reconnection with the earth and all her inhabitants, feel essential to the wellbeing of our world. I speak English, Spanish and German fluently.

Healing is deeply personal, and having the right support can make all the difference. As a licensed therapist with three years of experience, I’m dedicated to helping people across the lifespan navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, burnout, relationship challenges, and the emotional weight that can accumulate over time. Whether you're working through a painful experience, building more confidence in yourself, or simply looking for steadier ground, you'll find a space here that is empathetic, honest, and completely free of judgment. Therapy works best when it feels like a genuine human connection grounded in compassion and respect, and that's exactly what you can expect with me. My goal is to be a steady, supportive presence you feel genuinely comfortable with as you work toward healing, confidence, and personal growth that feel meaningful and lasting. Together, we'll create a supportive, down-to-earth space where you feel heard, understood, and never judged. My approach is warm, collaborative, and flexible, ensuring your healing environment is always tailored to your unique needs, goals, and lived experience. Drawing on evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and EMDR, we'll build healthy coping skills, process difficult experiences, and support your overall emotional well-being to create positive change. Trauma-informed care is central to how I work, and empowering you throughout your healing journey is something I am genuinely passionate about. You set the direction; I'll help you find the way forward. My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by my own experience in therapy and the profound impact of having people truly in my corner during some of the most difficult seasons of my life. Those relationships stayed with me, and they continue to shape how I show up for every person I work with. This foundation deepened my commitment to care that is compassionate, trauma-informed, and centered on each person’s experience. In every session, I bring empathy, honesty, and genuine respect for the process, with the intention of creating a space where you feel safe enough to be real, supported as you are, and encouraged in your own healing. Outside of the therapy room, I find restoration in nature, whether that's going for walks, hiking, biking, or simply being outdoors to unplug and reset. Traveling and exploring new places brings me a lot of joy, as does unhurried time with family and friends. When I'm winding down at the end of the day, you'll likely find me working on a puzzle while listening to a podcast, a simple combination that helps me slow down and recharge.

As a therapist, I offer insight-oriented therapy, which includes deep self-reflection, exploration of your hopes and goals, and artistic exploration. My practice focuses on attachment work, which helps people to strengthen their connection with their truth and authenticity. Being true to ourselves leads to greater self-worth, intuition, empathy, and better relationships. We can more confidently pursue our passions and purpose, and be more clear on our next steps in life. Young adults often see me to address the transition to college or graduation from college. Others are dealing with difficult family dynamics, including situations where their identities or life choices are not accepted or respected by family members. Some are seeking guidance as they develop their professional identity and consider their life trajectory. Others are healing from trauma, including sexual assault or abuse. The tools I draw on when working with young adults include talk therapy and EMDR—and I also find mediums like sand tray and art therapy to be useful. I offer sessions in-office or nature-based. Hello! My passion is working with people interested in personal growth and I strive to collaborate with my clients in exploring unconscious and procedurally-based patterns that occur in relationship with self and others. I have served as a therapist to young adults and adults in the front range area for 10 years. Before opening my practice, I worked in community mental health and at CU Boulder's Counseling and Psychiatric Services Center. I work primarily from a contemporary psychodynamic lens and utilize a wide range of techniques including Internal Family Systems, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, narrative therapy, interpersonal/relational therapy, Self psychology, and Motivational Interviewing. I am also trained in MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy through MAPS and am a published qualitative researcher on the MDMA-AT FDA trials. I am a cisgender woman currently residing on the stolen homelands of the Arapaho and Cheyenne, colonially known as Colorado. I identify as haafu and Japanese-American and I unjustly benefit from my East Asian heritage and proximity to whiteness, as someone who is able-bodied, and with financial and educational access. My sun and moon are in Cancer. I am passionate about matters of identity, race, culture, and social justice.
A tending space for LGTBQ+ and/or Neurodivergent individuals and couples and for folks with complex trauma. If you’ve learned to survive by shrinking, masking, or staying vigilant, you’re not broken—you adapted. Healing doesn’t require forcing change, but moving at the speed of trust and rhythm of safety with someone attuned alongside you. I am a trauma-informed, non-pathologizing therapist rooted in somatic, creative, and relational modalities where I help clients to cultivate nervous system safety and regulation, reconnect with their bodies and intuition, and reclaim their authenticity and agency, supporting them in living a more expressed, embodied, and expansive life.
Sometimes words don't cut it. Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or seeking a safe space to explore your inner world? Art therapy uses tools that take traditional talk therapy to the next level by giving you an embodied experience. The heart of my practice is believing people are their own experts. You are the ONLY you with your exact values, experiences, routines, heartaches, and desires. I want you to feel seen, foster a deeper understanding of your journey, and find answers and solace through your own innate intuition. If you're new to art therapy you may not be aware of how creativity can open new doors of understanding and connection. Sometimes we get stuck on a judgmental message from 1st grade that we aren’t “good” at artmaking. Well, I say forget that! You ARE inherently creative and it’s okay to heal using both the logical AND intuitive sides of your brain. You get to lead at your comfort level and I will authentically support you using tools and techniques (whether open-ended or more structured) to guide you. If you are seeking space to work through an issue you're having, improve self-esteem, cope with anxiety or depression, manage stress, deal with relationship or parenting issues, process trauma, or just vent, consider reaching out to me.
