Therapists for college students near Georgia State University
Life throws curve balls. You don't have to take them on alone. I believe in creating a safe environment to help you manage everything you are carrying. In addition to private practice, I have experience working in community behavioral health for 7 years and in a brief intervention virtual program for 3 years, providing therapy to adolescents and adults. I have worked with clients with various diagnoses and those seeking assistance in self-esteem, relationships, life transitions, parenting, and grief and loss, among others. I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. I believe in establishing a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients to work together to achieve established goals in a safe and trusting environment. It takes courage to ask for help and seeking support in therapy is the first step in making a positive change. Throughout every session, I work to help you develop and utilize coping mechanisms to make progress towards your goals. I look forward to working with you!
My practice is designed to support students who are feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or the challenges of navigating new phases in life. Whether it’s the pressure of academic or family expectations, managing cultural tensions, or struggling with uncertainty about the future, I understand how these issues can make even day-to-day tasks feel heavy and consuming. Many of my clients find themselves caught in cycles of overthinking, self-doubt, or feeling stuck between different identities and responsibilities. As a first-generation immigrant and veteran, I bring both lived experience and clinical insight to the work I do. I specialize in supporting immigrants and children of immigrants who are balancing complex cultural dynamics while trying to succeed academically, socially, and personally. My goal is to help students like you break free from the weight of these internal and external pressures, and move toward a life that feels grounded and self-directed. Together, we’ll create a plan that is realistic, culturally responsive, and tailored to your goals. If you’re ready to explore new ways of coping, build confidence, and feel more in control of your path forward, I’m here to offer support, insight, and tools to help you thrive.
On top of going to college, are you struggling with lack of sleep or health concerns that are depleting your resources and energy, and impacting your mood? Are you worried about COVID-19 and it’s effect on you, college and your future? I am a health focused therapist and provide effective, practical interventions and existential explorations. In addition to working with students who are dealing with anxiety or depression, I also specialize in working with individuals with chronic health or medical conditions, including those who are managing a mild traumatic brain injury. I provide CBT-I for people who have insomnia and want better sleep. Due to COVID 19 I am now treating students via video conferencing on a private, confidential site.
My name is Jessica Kettell and I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with the American Nurses Credentialing Center. I am here to help you restore your mental health and empower you to live your life to your fullest potential. Are you feeling sad or empty? Do you have trouble sleeping? Or maybe, you are so overwhelmed, anxious, or discouraged that it’s hard for you to make it through the day? You might find it hard to focus on tasks or assignments. Whatever problems you are facing right now, let’s tackle them together! You are not alone. You deserve to be happy and enjoy your life. I have completed a Fellowship Program in Functional and Integrative Psychiatry with Dr. James Greenblatt. My lifelong dream has been to make mental health care more accessible to individuals and to reduce the stigma associated with mental health treatment. Just as it is normal to seek treatment for diabetes, it should be natural to seek treatment to improve your mental health. You are a biochemically unique individual. A treatment that works well for someone, might not work best for you. That is why I use an evidence-based, whole-body, personalized approach to identify all factors that might be contributing to your mental health condition such as nutrition, lifestyle, hormones, genetics, and stress. Good nutrition and lifestyle practices are the foundation of mental wellness. I would love to support you on your mental health journey. Let’s do this together!

Hello and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Caroline (she/her) and I’m a therapist, avid reader, creative, reality TV enthusiast, and proud dog mom. I specialize in identity work, and provide queer- and trans-affirming care. I also work with folks navigating trauma, addiction, binge eating disorder, body image concerns, anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD & more. My goal is always to cultivate a therapeutic relationship where you can show up fully and honestly, and feel deeply supported (because I am on your team!) We might work well together if you’re looking for someone empathic and laidback, who also challenges you. I invite you to get curious about how your lived experiences impact who you are and how you engage with the world. I also trust your innate wisdom as the expert of your own life. I believe that therapy is political and that we are all deeply impacted by the systems in which we exist. I receive weekly consultation regarding anti-racist and anti-oppressive therapeutic practices, and I seek to maintain a practice in which people of all identities do not simply feel tolerated, but feel deeply understood, accepted, and nurtured.

Our therapists identify as Millennials and Gen Z, which means we can relate to you and your experiences, first hand. Does it feel like intense emotions come out of nowhere and run you over? Are you drowning in anxiety? Do you speak or act without thinking and then ask yourself, “Why did I do that?!” Do you avoid doing things because they probably won’t work out for you? Maybe you beat yourself up, or you feel like no one understands you, or you can’t seem to find the type of relationships you want – maybe all of the above. You wonder whether things are ever going to change. You’re overwhelmed, you're struggling to manage it all, and you're stuck. I specialize in getting people un-stuck. I hear where you’re coming from and validate you without losing sight of why you came to therapy in the first place – you want things to be different. I can teach you to control your emotions and gain a sense of stability, and guide you on the path to less anxiety, higher self-confidence, and better relationships. I approach my clients with unmistakable authenticity. When you meet with me, you're meeting with the real me. I give my clients the tools they need to solve their own problems along with the knowledge of when, where, and how to use each tool. If you’re ready to build the life you want, let’s talk!
I specialize in promoting emotional and relational wellness by addressing concerns about depression, anxiety, and other issues resulting from trauma. I am a naturally intuitive and empathetic person, so part of who I am as a therapist is genuinely enjoying listening to people talk about their lives. My primary goal is to create a safe space for you to explore your feelings - snarkiness, self-deprecating humor, cursing, etc. is all welcome and accepted. Over time, I will help you make sense of your experiences and start to see and understand yourself from a more compassionate perspective. I'm also a neuroscience nerd, so another part of who I am as a therapist is helping you understand how your brain works and the how and why of what we’re doing in therapy. We'll talk about subpersonalities, neuroplasticity, memory networks, and more...but don't worry: I have an extensive library of articles, videos, and memes to help explain things. The most important part of who I am as a therapist is believing that therapy isn't just where you learn how to “deal with” mental health problems, but that for those who are ready, therapy can provide real healing. Using IFS-Informed EMDR, I help clients “reconsolidate” trauma memories, allowing you to experience transformational and lasting change.
I am a compassionate therapist focused on supporting college students through life’s challenges. My areas of focus include depression, anxiety, self-esteem, cultural adjustment, and religious concerns. College can be a time of significant transition, and I aim at providing a safe, nonjudgmental space where students can explore their emotions, strengthen their sense of identity, and develop coping strategies. Whether you’re navigating academic pressures, personal growth, adjusting to a new culture, self-confidence issues and needing a therapist who is also a Christian, I am here to support you with an approach that is understanding, collaborative, and tailored to your unique experiences. Let's a schedule a brief fifteen-minute call to see if I will be an appropriate fit.
Are you looking for a unique and personalized approach to therapy? I may be the right fit for you. While I am well versed in traditional approaches, I also specialize in animal assisted therapy, art therapy, and play therapy. These tools allow me to tailor my therapeutic approach to the individual and take an integrative approach to counseling. Everyone is different, and it is important that we find an approach that works best for you! Sharing your deepest and most personal hardships with someone is a huge investment of trust. I strive to create a safe, welcoming environment that allows my clients to work through their challenges. It may not always seem possible, but you can become a healthier, happier version of yourself. It is a beautiful thing to experience and a joy to watch it happen. In some ways starting therapy can feel like jumping into a pool. The fear and uncertainty can make it hard to take that first step. The fact is if you are reading this then you are ready for a change. Call and schedule your first appointment today. I promise the water is warm.

One of my happy places is the beach. I am from the beautiful island of Jamaica and some of my most treasured memories and happiest times were spent at the beach. Living in Atlanta, I am not able to go to the beach as often as I would like, therefore, I bring the beach into my daily life through relaxation skills, music, décor, and my general mindset. As your therapist, my hope is that I can help you find your “happy place.” This may be a place, a person, a pet, an activity... anything that nourishes your mind, body and soul. I welcome the opportunity to help you learn how to develop solutions, feel empowered, and create a healthy lifestyle filled with joy, stability, self-acceptance, emotional well-being, and ultimately, happiness.

Are you are stuck in a job you hate, aren’t sure if you should stay in your current relationship, or just feel in a “funk” from time to time? If so, therapy is for you. I use a solution-focused approach to help you find the answers you are looking for. I enjoy working with adults (and older teens) who can’t quite figure out how to live their best lives. I specialize in couples – before marriage, when you still have stars in your eyes, after marriage when things are a bit harder than you thought they’d be, and towards the potential end of marriage, when you need to make the tough decision to either stay together or not. My typical clients are high achieving, and motivated people who need some guidance in a particular area of their life, I'll work with you to identify patterns (and people) that keep you stuck, and help find a path forward. I'll also show you how to set boundaries and identify what you can and cannot control, so you can move forward confidently. Sometimes the most difficult part of therapy can be making the decision to start. I am located in the heart of historic Kirkwood in-town Atlanta neighborhood and, am available to do telehealth (video calls) on a case-by-case basis.
