I see psychotherapy as a collaborative process to help individuals gain a fresh perspective on their lives, recognize repeating patterns in their behaviors and relationships, and find new solutions for old problems. My approach is psychodynamic and eclectic, balancing both depth and real-world focus to address the unique needs of each patient at the intersection of their physical, mental, internal, external, interpersonal, and sociopolitical spheres of experience. I have a particular passion working with individuals who find themselves outside of the narrow band of supposedly “normal” identity and desire, including people who are “kinky”/involved in BDSM, nonmonogamous, polyamorous, in open relationships, queer, gender non-conforming, non-binary, and/or trans* (transitioning or not transitioning). I endeavor to use my concentrated graduate study, post-graduate training, and clinical experience in these areas to provide a warm, open, and supportive space to facilitate self-understanding and growth.

As a Licensed Master Social Worker, I specialize in depression and anxiety, OCD, self-esteem, relationship issues, stress management, and life transitions for young adults and adults who want more than just a space to process difficult emotions. If you’re looking for practical tools, greater self-awareness, and the ability to navigate life's challenges with growing confidence and independence, then I am here for you. Therapy, to me, works best when it feels like a genuine partnership. I bring authenticity, curiosity, and respect to every session, and am committed to being a warm, honest presence as you work toward the life you want to create. Together, we'll explore the patterns that may be holding you back, develop skills that actually fit your life, and build the insight you need to keep moving forward. I don't believe therapy is about someone else having the answers for you. At its core, it's about creating space to slow down, get curious about yourself, and develop the tools needed to move through life with more confidence and intention. That belief shapes everything about how I work. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to help you reconnect with your strengths, explore your experiences with openness, and gain a clearer understanding of the patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Rather than directing what you should do, I'll support you in discovering what feels right for you and help you build the confidence to trust yourself along the way. In practice, I draw on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and somatic interventions. Sessions are welcoming and nonjudgmental, a space where you can learn to respond to emotions more effectively and strengthen your ability to act in alignment with your values. My interest in becoming a therapist started early in life. After losing loved ones, I found myself wanting to be a source of support for my family during the hardest moments. As I grew older, that desire evolved into a deeper passion for understanding people and the human experience. Through studying psychology and social psychology, I became fascinated by the ways our thoughts, emotions, relationships, and environments shape how we move through the world. I carry this passion and curiosity with me now, offering a genuine investment in understanding who you are and what you need to move forward. When I'm not working, I love exploring my creative side through art, cooking, baking, and decorating. I'm also an avid runner and regularly race half-marathons. Both creativity and running have taught me a great deal about myself, from learning how to navigate challenges and adapt to setbacks to appreciating the value of patience, curiosity, and growth.

I am a psychotherapist specializing in individual and couples’ therapy and maintain a full-time private practice in the financial district of Manhattan. After receiving my masters in mental health counseling from CUNY Brooklyn College I continued my training at The Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP) focusing on psychoanalytic theory and practice. I am currently working as a high-risk screener as well as a therapist for the LGBTQ+ affirmative treatment division within ICP. In addition to private practice work, I am conducting research identifying predictive factors for people leaving Orthodox Judaism and have presented at conferences on the topic of disaffiliation within Orthodox Judaism. I am currently pursuing my PhD at Adelphi University School of Social Work. My approach to therapy is primarily psychodynamic in nature. In my practice I take the time to listen closely to your needs and tailor our sessions to meet you where you currently are. Through our work together we will move towards greater understanding of your past and its impact on your life today, this depth of work allows for greater self acceptance and more control over the decisions you make in your life. Our sessions will be spent working to increase your self awareness while strengthening your capacity to fully engage with the world. Together we will expand your window of tolerance by unpacking the feelings and thoughts that bring you discomfort, leading to a more authentic and comprehensive experience of yourself.

Times of transition are exciting and challenging. Starting something new, moving through inflection points in your education and career, preparing for completion and uncertainty while you figure out what's next, are all important processes everyone hopes will go smoothly - but sometimes they can feel rocky. Even good changes or subtle shifts can feel unsettling, especially for highly sensitive people. If social, academic or emotional / mental health issues are stressing you and making it hard to feel confident and supported in working towards your goals, therapy can be a great tool to help increase understanding about "how it all works" and get support in developing patience and progress towards deepening clarity and commitment to your goals. Anxieties, insecurity, depression, difficult patterns in relationships or work, and problems focusing can be understood and changed, so you have more energy and confidence to devote to living. Become more connected to yourself and others through a specialized process of exploration with a trained professional, and see a difference in your life. A therapist’s expertise and experience are very important, but the *key* ingredient of effective therapy is a “good fit” between you and your therapist. If you’d like to meet and see how it would be to work together, I would be pleased to hear from you. Beginning work as a psychotherapist in clinic settings in 1995, I opened my private practice in 2002. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University, am a New York City based Licensed Clinical Social Worker (licensed in New York and New Jersey), and earned a certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the NYFS Institute.

Our NYC-based practice specializes in anxiety and OCD treatment for college students and young adults. Many of the students we work with are high achievers who are used to pushing through, but are finding that anxiety, overthinking, or burnout are becoming harder to manage. This often shows up as getting stuck in your head, feeling overwhelmed by academic or social pressure, or getting caught in patterns of procrastination, perfectionism, or avoidance. For some, OCD or panic are a big part of the picture. College also brings a new level of independence, and managing academics, friendships, and daily life on your own can make these patterns feel more intense. Our approach is warm, structured, and grounded, focused on helping you understand what’s keeping you stuck, build practical skills, and feel more confident navigating this stage of life.

As a licensed mental health counselor dedicated to transforming patients’ lives, I work primarily with emerging adults (20- and 30-somethings) who are navigating life transitions, relational challenges, and low self-esteem, as well as symptoms of anxiety, depression, and OCD. This life stage comes with many unique challenges and transitions, so my mission is to assist you in identifying your patterns and strengths, while introducing strategies to help you move closer to your goals. In taking this relational approach, I also aid in setting boundaries and building secure attachment to allow for more meaningful relationships. In every session, I balance open-ended exploration of concerns with the introduction of tangible tools and skills to manage symptoms and reduce distress. Therapy is a collaboration, and I strive to meaningfully support you in ways that are tailored to your individual needs. I understand that starting therapy can be intimidating, which is why I offer a warm and compassionate space so you can bring your full self into sessions. My holistic, person-centered approach to care draws from various therapeutic modalities while remaining compassionate and recognizing the structural barriers to mental health. These modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), couples and group therapy, and attachment-oriented methods. A deep curiosity and care for people started me along the path to therapy. Working in a university career counseling center and volunteering with various social justice organizations fueled my desire to walk alongside people as they work toward their goals, while incorporating my passion for equity and justice. Mental health doesn’t exist in a vacuum, so I bring the awareness that numerous internal and external factors contribute. Outside the office, I love visiting museums and galleries, reading, cross-stitching, and listening to comedy podcasts. I also enjoy spending time outdoors and foraging – there are a shocking amount of edible plants, even in NYC!

College, graduate school, and early adulthood can be exciting, but they can also feel overwhelming. You may be struggling with stress, anxiety, low mood, loneliness, relationship challenges, questions about your identity, or the pressure to keep up academically while managing everything else in your life. For some students, adjusting to life away from home, navigating independence, or recovering from difficult experiences such as trauma, sexual assault, or substance use concerns can make this time especially challenging. At Modern Talk, we specialize in working with college students, graduate students, and emerging adults. Our clinicians understand the unique demands of this stage of life and have extensive experience helping students navigate both everyday stressors and more complex emotional challenges. Several members of our team have worked within university counseling settings, including New York University's Wellness Exchange, supporting students through academic, social, and personal transitions. Whether you're looking for support during a difficult period, trying to better understand yourself, or hoping to build healthier coping skills and relationships, we're here to help. We provide a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can talk openly, gain insight, and develop tools to navigate challenges with greater confidence and resilience.

I’m a licensed therapist who works with adults and young adults navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, and times when you just feel stuck or unsure about what’s next. I aim to provide a steady, supportive space where you can talk openly and feel heard without judgment. You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting—therapy can be a place to sort things out as you go. I see therapy as a collaborative and practical process. My role is to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and help you better understand what’s getting in your way. Together, we’ll focus on what matters most to you and work toward meaningful, realistic change. I often use approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you build tools you can actually use day to day—whether that’s managing stress, getting out of your own head, or feeling more confident in your decisions. We can take things at your pace, and there’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. I began my career doing street outreach with individuals experiencing homelessness in Washington, DC. That experience shaped how I approach this work today—it taught me the importance of meeting people where they are, showing up consistently, and creating a space built on respect and trust. Outside of therapy, I enjoy going to the movies with friends, staying active, and spending time in the park. I also like trying new restaurants around the city.

Therapy illuminates the patterns we find ourselves in, and also provides ways of coping with the distress resulting from these patterns. Through understanding how our past and present circumstances affect us, we cultivate empathy for ourselves and those around us. I believe in the healing nature of a strong therapeutic relationship. I will work to facilitate growth in your natural areas of strength, while also deepening your understanding of what causes pain. My approach is collaborative and individualized, and includes Relational Psychodynamic techniques, metaphor, CBT techniques, and/or Mindfulness. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than ten years of experience, I work with adults navigating depression, anxiety, identity questions, attachment concerns, relationship challenges, and other personal and relational difficulties. My work is grounded in meeting you exactly where you are, honoring what you've lived through, and helping you move toward a greater sense of wholeness. Whatever brings you to therapy, you can expect a partner who is both competent and genuinely invested in your healing. I believe that when people feel truly accepted, they can begin to understand the challenges they face and find their way toward a greater inner healing. I look forward to walking that journey together with you. Healing the self so that you achieve a fuller and more realized life is what drives my work. That conviction is what draws me to psychodynamic therapy, which uses the relationship between therapist and patient as a meaningful vehicle for change. When the therapeutic relationship itself feels safe and honest, real transformation becomes possible. Within that relational foundation, I draw from a range of approaches to meet your individual needs, including person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and supportive therapy. The modalities that guide our sessions will always be chosen based on your unique story, family history, and cultural background. My style is open, honest, and respectful, and the environment I aim to create is one where you feel seen, not categorized. What you bring into the room shapes where we go together. My path to becoming a therapist began with a population I care about deeply: poor and marginalized immigrants who needed counseling in their own language, often Spanish, and who found it difficult to transition from speaking with a clergyman to speaking with a psychotherapist. As a Franciscan Priest, I recognized that I could bridge that gap, and so I pursued licensure as a clinical social worker specifically to serve that community. This experience deepened my commitment to culturally sensitive, person-centered care and instilled in me a profound respect for the role of spirituality and culture in a person's inner life. Every patient I work with today benefits from that awareness — an understanding that healing doesn't happen in isolation from who someone is, where they come from, or what gives their life meaning. Deepening my spiritual life is something I return to regularly, alongside time shared with friends over a good meal. Staying physically active each week is also important to me, a practice I find as grounding as it is energizing.
