I am a licensed psychologist with a private practice, Blume Therapy, LLC, in Portland, Oregon. I have worked at multiple universities and college counseling centers, both as a therapist and as an educator, and I am passionate about working with young adults at this extraordinary time of life. There are many reasons that people seek therapy. No matter the specific reason, you are probably here because you are struggling with something that matters to you a great deal. I have training and experience in treating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties (family, peer), trauma, grief and loss, academic stress, issues related to identity, chronic illness and chronic pain, and dissatisfaction with one’s life and oneself. In all of the work that I do, I strive to provide culturally-oriented care and am committed to my own professional training and growth in regards to systems of oppression and social justice. My goal is to offer affirming work with individuals of diverse racial, cultural, sexual and gender identities. In therapy, my work is emotion-focused, trauma-informed, strengths-based and attentive to interpersonal processes. My style is compassionate, collaborative, curious and warm. I believe that having a strong connection with your therapist is the foundation of successful work. I also believe that understanding how our past experiences and early relationships impact us in the present is an important part of lasting change. I have a personal interest in mindfulness, and this influences my work. In all of the work that I do, I strive to provide culturally-oriented care, where the many intersections of your identity are at the heart of understanding who you are and the strengths you possess.

I find that the people I work best with are curious about their own patterns and are seeking to create better relationships with themselves and the other important people in their lives. Together lets figure out which parts of your life would benefit from trying something new and which parts would benefit from some compassionate acceptance. We can re-write the parts of your story that feel the most stuck and find new ways to grow into the person you want to be.

My approach is warm and collaborative, creating a space where you feel truly seen and supported. I specialize in working with women who are navigating anxiety, relational challenges, and the lasting effects of trauma. Many of my clients struggle with high self-expectations, overthinking, and a constant sense of not doing or being enough. Together, we explore the roots of these patterns and create space for self-trust, balance, and lasting change. Using a combination of EMDR, somatic, and other evidence-based approaches, I tailor each session to your unique needs and goals. This personalized approach allows us to work through your challenges at your own pace. Whether we’re using EMDR or another approach, I stay attuned to what feels most supportive. I trust your innate capacity to heal and see my role as a guide in helping you reconnect with your resilience and sense of self. I believe healing happens when we learn to listen to our bodies and emotions. My approach is warm, intuitive, and collaborative. I want therapy to be a place where you can slow down, notice what's happening inside, and reconnect with parts of yourself that you've had to protect or push aside. I pay close attention to your nervous system and what it's communicating, helping you shift from survival mode into a greater sense of steadiness and self-connection at a pace that feels safe to you. I utilize EMDR, attachment theory, person-centered therapy, internal family systems, psychodynamic therapy, somatic awareness and others. With these modalities, we will work with how your experiences live within your body. We'll explore where tension settles, emotions get stuck, and where there's room for release. I’m especially attuned to the impact early relationships have on these issues and shape how we move through the world. My main goal is to help you feel seen, safe, and grounded as you rediscover a sense of ease. I have eight years of clinical experience in various mental health settings and roles, including individual therapy, inpatient centers, psychiatric hospitals, intensive outpatient programs, and community rehabilitation. I also have experience as an ABA therapist for individuals with autism. I hope to hear from you!

Thanks for taking a moment to learn a bit more about me. If you're seeking therapy, I applaud you! Seeking support to navigate chaotic moments in life is not often easy and is also a wonderful gift to give your self. As a therapist, I use a dynamic blend of modalities to support you in a “body first” approach to healing. My style is collaborative and validating. We may integrate art, movement, play therapy, and expressive sand tray work into sessions depending on your comfort. Building our relationship on a basis of shared respect is a huge part of my practice. If you think we’d be a good fit, let's connect!

I believe the role of a therapist is to be more than a reflective and empathetic companion in the client’s journey and must also incorporate directive approaches in order to alternate between being a companion and being a leader on that journey. Inherent in this belief is that clients are coming to therapy because they want something different than what they currently have. This can be as simple as a new perspective on a past or current struggle or as complex as a new skill set for managing and overcoming emotional, behavioral, cognitive, relational, or somatic patterns that have arisen in response to emotional distress. My theoretical orientation is rooted in Systems Theory and I utilize interventions from Family Systems Therapy, Internal Family Systems, CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, ARC, as well as Somatic and Mindfulness based psychotherapies. I have over 15 years of clinical experience working with adolescents, college students, adults, couples, and families. My experience has shown that change is typically hard work and often requires compassionate and collaborative support in order to build new skills. I see clients in both Oregon and Massachusetts and I offer a 30 minute free video or phone consultation to see if I am the right fit for you.
