Therapists for college students near Pittsburgh, PA
Seeking to discover strengths to meet new challenges or define your sense of purpose? Are you having relationship issues at home, school, or work? Or maybe you are asking questions about your life story, its meaning, and your place in the world. Psychotherapy can be helpful in exploring and resolving these concerns. Every person has a story to tell. I offer insight-oriented psychotherapy, an approach that focuses on your perspective and unique story. A person’s feelings, thoughts, and choices may be influenced by factors from the past that are outside of one’s awareness and exert pressure on current experiences and events. Each person’s culture, including military culture, can also be influential in therapy. Telling your story freely in a safe environment and bringing past experiences and meanings to light can have therapeutic or even transformative effects in the present. Devote the time now to strengthen your foundation and build a new vision for your future. My practice focuses on resilience, operational stress, high-intensity workplaces, and many other issues. Individuals from all walks of life and backgrounds, you may find therapy helpful for self-knowledge and awareness as you navigate a complex time in your life. The practice is Telehealth with access throughout FL, PA, and WV. Tricare has certified that I am an out-of-network provider for FL, PA, or WV telehealth services.
YOU are the expert on yourself. I have had training and life experiences, but I believe that you hold within yourself the power to make the changes that you want to see happen in your life, but nobody has ever shown you that power before. I believe in helping you discover and awaken that power through whatever means you feel comfortable, and sometimes UNcomfortable! I believe in the uniqueness of every individual and work to find that in every person I meet through my work, my travels and everyday trips to the grocery store or walks in the neighborhood with my dog! I have had my own struggles with depression and anxiety in the past, and was a bit of an antisocial teen...I have seen it all, so you can feel safe talking with me about ANYTHING and I won't make you feel judged:)
With over a decade of experience, I've had the privilege of supporting individuals and families across the lifespan. My practice integrates both therapeutic intervention and comprehensive psychological assessment for diagnostic clarity, treatment planning, and meaningful goal progress. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where every person feels heard, understood, and empowered to take the next steps toward well-being.

I DO TELEHEALTH I work with people struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, grief and loss and bipolar disorder, school/work adjustment and stress. You might feel overwhelmed and alone with so many obligations and responsibilities. Maybe you are under constant pressure and you don't see room for change. It's hard to see a possibility for change when you keep looking at the problem with one perspective, your own perspective. Let's talk about it, you are not alone. I have years experience in community health and private practice. I've worked with people at all levels of function, resources, financial support or crisis. The one true constant for those people I've been fortunate enough to work with is that personal resources are already inside them. Sometimes people have trouble accessing these strengths or they may be burred by noisy negative self-talk, worn out or unhelpful ideas about ourselves and other emotional baggage. I'm here to help so give me a call. I am currently offering telehealth sessions and this is covered by most insurances.
I have many years of experience working with college students, both as a counselor and also as an instructor. I offer individual counseling through Telehealth at this time, which is convenient for college students with changing schedules. I am able to work with anyone in the state of Pennsylvania. I provide a safe, comfortable environment in which my client can process their presenting concerns. Together we will develop a plan that you are comfortable utilizing and that will promote growth in the areas you are experiencing concerns. Telehealth allows you to visit with me in a comfortable space of your own choosing.
Hi, I’m Kendal McDowell and I've been working in the field since 2019. I'm licensed in both CA and PA and I work specifically with college students and college athletes. Having been a college athlete myself, I'm familiar with the joys and stressors of collegiate life. College can be an exciting and eye opening experience, but sometimes it can also open our eyes to some things within ourselves or those around us we may not have noticed before. Together we’ll work to pin point what’s really going on. We’ll look deeper into areas that range from: relationships, anxiety, and depression. I’m here to help discover what’s causing symptoms or distress, and what we can do about it. We’ll spend time getting to know who you are and what could be missing, to bring more joy and happiness to life. Not sure yet? Reach out to set up a free 15-minute consult- no need to commit to a scheduled appointment right away! You can text/call (717-769-5510), or send me an email (kmcdowellcounseling@gmail.com) to set something up.

Hello there, Feeling stuck? Feeling stressed out about all the things that are competing for your attention? Wanting to change your relationship with yourself, so you can spread your wings and soar? I'm Stefan (he/him) and I want to be there on your journey. Starting therapy can feel scary, even if you've been in therapy before! To lower that intensity a bit, I want you to give you an idea of how I show up to sessions: - I get to know you - your family, friends, hobbies, shows, loves, fears, passions. - I celebrate and hype you up when you do the hard thing. - I ask questions to get you curious about patterns in your life, and point out when you might not be aware of them. - I offer compassion when your mind creates judgments about yourself. - I welcome and ask for feedback, knowing some things will land and others will not. - I laugh with you and value humor. - I tear up when you feel hurt or uncover a tender spot (while also holding space for you to feel). - I'll tell you I'm proud of you. - I nerd out about mental health, skills, approaches, and explain concepts in a way you'll understand. - I slow down and speed up based on your cues, and I give you choice in how we go about sessions. - I'm always working on our relationship, so there's trust and security when we get to difficult things. - I acknowledge the bigger systems of oppression that affect your life and lives of your loved ones. - I'm active and dynamic in sessions - sometimes asking questions, leading an activity, listening and reflecting, interrupting to highlight something you said, and synthesizing information and summarizing it back to you. All of this "I" is the effort I put into helping you get to "you": what you want, what you care about, your goals, dreams, your emotions, stressors, internal talk, and who you want to become and how you want to show up in life. Specialties: queer and trans identities and lived experiences, anxiety and depression, perfectionism, substance use, navigating family dynamics, healing trauma, couples and relationship work, career discernment Approaches: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR; trauma approach), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gottman Method (for relationship work), mindfulness and somatic interventions I'm an associate counselor, seeing clients through telehealth in Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and California. You're exhausted. Not just tired, exhausted. The kind that sleep doesn't touch. You've been holding it together, pushing through, showing up for everyone else. And somewhere along the way, you stopped feeling like yourself. Maybe you've tried therapy before. Read the books, downloaded the apps, done the work. And yet here you are, same patterns, same weight, same wall. That doesn't mean you're broken. It means you haven't found the right fit yet. This is a space where you don't have to perform progress or have the perfect words ready. Just come as you are. About my approach: I use EMDR, Narrative, Emotion-Focused, and attachment-based approaches all grounded in cultural humility. But honestly? My clients usually come in expecting someone serious and clinical. Then they realize I laugh easily, I swear sometimes, and yes, I will absolutely do a mini chair-dance when you hit a milestone. No poker face here. About me: I'm a first-generation Latinx, LGBTQIA+ woman who grew up in a multigenerational household where family, community, and education weren't just values, they were survival. That lived experience shows up in how I work: with warmth, cultural humility, and full presence.
Hi. I'm Dana! I work with people who just want to feel better. Whether you have been struggling with for a long time or something new that has come up, I'm here to listen and support you. I want the people I work with to feel they can live more authentically, manage their own mental health, and work through stress and burnout that gets in the way. Whether you feel misunderstood, stuck, or just have trouble trying to become your own person, I'm here to support you on the path to making things make sense.
Hello! I want to help you get back to living your life as soon as possible. You'll find me to be passionate about providing a safe, confidential, supportive, and collaborative environment for you. My approach is influenced by my values of honesty, responsibility, accountability, compassion, and respect. I practice primarily from a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) perspective meaning I focus closely on the interconnectedness of your thoughts/beliefs/values, feelings, and behaviors to help you work toward your goals. I also utilized dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and motivational interviewing techniques. I treat a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, and relationship issues. I enjoy working with athletes on stressors or performance related issues. I have worked in a variety of settings in the mental health field. I am currently participating in PSYPACT which allows me the privilege of practicing virtually in 40 states (and growing). Finding the right "fit" in a therapist is one of the most important pieces of the puzzle. Once we meet, if we determine that we are not a fit, I'd be happy to guide you to someone who can and/or provide you with resources that may better help. I look forward to meeting you.
