I have trained with the top researcher in harm reduction psychotherapy and will meet you without judgment as you navigate your desired relationship with substances. In my practice, I take great care to offer affirming, trauma-informed care. I have particular experience working with women, the LGBTQ+ community, and individuals living with HIV. I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I obtained both my Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing from The University of Texas at Tyler. I have over 11 years of experience in nursing working in various fields and with a variety of patient populations. I have experience working with patients needing mental health services both inpatient and outpatient. I am dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with mental health concerns by increasing access to those needing mental health treatment while providing support, compassion, and understanding. I am here for the patient and want to ensure that all his or her needs are met. I have a passion for working in mental health services and genuinely care about each individual. I listen to his or her concerns and history to develop a diagnosis and formulate a treatment plan with the patient. The patients preferences and needs will lead the treatment approach initially and going forward. I include the patient in all aspects of care. Listening to his or her concerns, symptoms, and history is an important starting point in developing a diagnosis. The diagnosis is thoroughly discussed with the patient and I will answer any questions that present. Following the diagnosis, a plan of care is developed with the patients input. Patient preferences for therapy, medication, or both, are included in the treatment plan, and any referrals necessary will be made. Medication, if necessary and agreed upon, will be called in to the patients preferred pharmacy and any remaining questions or concerns will be addressed. A follow-up visit to assess ongoing effectiveness of the treatment plan will be made. At consecutive appointments, any necessary changes to the treatment plan will be made. However, I am available for concerns, questions, or needs that may arise prior to follow-up visits when needed.

Hi, my name is Sarah Hoffman, and I’m a licensed counselor in Houston, TX. I help anxious and overwhelmed students struggling with the stress of school and daily life find ways to take control of their lives and feel better. I help my clients better understand themselves and their minds, harness their strengths, and embrace their full selves so they can live the life they want. I’m an affirming therapist and have extensive experience supporting students who identify as neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, transgender, gender expansive, BIPOC, migrant/immigrant/child of immigrants, or who had a multicultural upbringing. I will celebrate, support, honor, and work to understand all parts of you, including your cultures, values, beliefs, and many identities. It’s important you feel safe to bring your full self into our sessions. My specialties include ADHD, neurodivergence, anxiety, stress, and overwhelm. Sometimes, life feels like an endless battle and a constant game of catch-up that leaves you feeling drained and overwhelmed. Some days, even the simple act of getting out of bed might feel impossible as you struggle to keep track of everything on your ever-growing to-do list. It feels like you're always running late, forgetting important things, and it's hard to concentrate on anything. Even though people around you might think you're doing okay because you hide how you feel and put on a brave face, the truth is that inside, you feel like you're falling apart. Life feels confusing and overwhelming. I understand how the pressure to succeed and the fear of messing up and failing can be paralyzing and suffocating. It’s draining to feel like you’re always on edge. You want to enjoy your life and have a chance to catch your breath. You’re starting to realize that maybe this isn’t how everyone feels, and you want to find a way to feel better. I know how hard it is to figure out how to balance the responsibilities and expectations of life. I get what it's like to feel different, and that life is more challenging for you than for others without knowing why. I understand the exhaustion of figuring out who you are and where you fit in the world. From personal experience, I also know how much it helps to work with an affirming and supportive counselor when you're struggling. Counseling is an investment in yourself. To get the most from your counseling sessions, you need a counselor you trust, who works to understand you, and has the training to help you reach your counseling goals. I worked in education for many years, both as a teacher and school counselor, and I understand the pressure of balancing school, family, friends, extracurriculars, work, and life. Working so hard to stay on top of everything is tiring. I became a licensed counselor because I wanted to help students reduce their feelings of stress and anxiety and find joy and peace in the chaos of everyday life. I firmly believe that everyone deserves access to the tools, knowledge, and self-understanding needed to live a meaningful and choice-filled life. Everyone deserves support navigating life’s challenges. My approach combines strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. During our counseling sessions, I’ll provide you with personalized tools and strategies to help you take control of your life and handle life’s daily challenges with ease. When you better understand yourself and how your mind works, you can finally let go of the feeling you're not measuring up and start waking up feeling confident and energized for the day. Through our work together in counseling, you can start to change how you view yourself and shed the weight of your worries. When you better understand yourself and how your mind works, you can finally let go of that feeling that you're not measuring up. If at any point, you find our counseling sessions aren't working, I'll adjust my approach or help connect you with appropriate referrals. Your comfort and progress are my top priorities in counseling. I want to help you trade stress for a more fulfilling life and find your genuine smile. To learn more about working with me, you can visit my website and reach out to schedule your free 15-minute phone consultation. During this call, I'll let you know how I can help, or I'll do my best to connect you with someone who can. I want to help you stop feeling anxious and overwhelmed and start finding balance and joy in your life.
Hi, I’m Courtney Winston and I believe everyone has a story that deserves to be heard and honored. My passion for mental health comes from witnessing the struggles of people close to me and realizing how powerful it can be to get to the root of what someone is going through. I’m here to help you explore your values, uncover your strengths, and create meaningful, lasting change. In sessions, I focus on building a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel supported and empowered. I meet you where you are, helping you clarify your goals and guiding you to make progress at your own pace to help you better understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and to build greater self-awareness and accountability. I believe in your ability to grow, heal, and move forward—and I’d be honored to support you on that journey. Let’s work together to strengthen your sense of self and take meaningful steps toward the life you want.
I am one of the leading experts in pre-surgical psychological evaluations. I have authored a book titled "Psychological Assessment of Surgical Candidates: Evidence-Based Procedures and Practices" and actively engage in society work associated with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery to advance training and science related to bariatric surgery. My clinical training experiences have largely centered around assessing the intersections of medical/health, psychological, and social aspects of individuals to facilitate successful outcomes in medical settings. With training from some of the leading experts in psychological assessment, I am also proficient in conducting disability/worker's compensation evaluations, pre-employment screening, and general psychodiagnostic evaluations in addition to pre-surgical assessments. I am licensed in the state of Texas (#38086) and hold a PsyPact license to practice in other states. My research focuses on understanding how psychological factors contribute to medical outcomes. I have over 60 peer-reviewed publications, primarily focused on pre-surgical psychological evaluations and their predictive value for various outcomes. I use my research findings to assist patients in managing risk factors before and after surgery to optimize their outcomes. Additionally, I have a keen interest in psychological assessment, particularly in the use and study of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) in both research and practice. I have been recognized by several national organizations with early-career research awards for my contributions to pre-surgical psychological evaluations. Currently, I am the Principal Investigator on novel psychological interventions for Type 2 Diabetes. I also serve as an Associate Editor for two esteemed journals in the field – Psychological Assessment and Surgery for Obesity and Related Diseases.
Do you ever feel like your mind just won’t turn off—replaying conversations, worrying about things that haven’t even happened yet, and finding it impossible to relax? Many of the people I work with experience these same struggles. They often share that they feel exhausted, disconnected, and like their lives lack meaning as they work tirelessly to keep it together on the outside. Anxiety, depression, and trauma can quietly weave their way into our lives and, if left unchecked, can take control and lead us into a downward spiral. Let me help you lighten the weight of these burdens and begin healing together.

Seeking support for yourself or your child(ren) takes courage so let me be the first to congratulate you on taking this first step. I am here to assist you in navigating the many changes and challenges that we are sometimes faced with in this life. In assisting you on your journey, I take a Cognitive Behavioral approach which seeks to target your thoughts, behaviors and feelings. In addition to CBT, I also incorporate solution-focused techniques to aid you in achieving your therapeutic goals. In the same way we seek a doctor for medical needs and a dentist for all things teeth related, seeking support from a mental health clinician is simply a way to meet your mental health needs. My purpose is to be the support you need.

Hi, I'm Dr G. You're likely here because you're feeling alone, stuck, hurting, or overwhelmed...I get it. My niche is working with the unique mental health concerns that affect marginalized/minoritized, first generation/immigrant, LGBTQ, non-traditional, and migrant college student populations. I have worked in multiple clinical settings and at several universities (including UC, Berkeley, Cal State University, Long Beach, Idaho State University, and Saint Edward's University in Austin, TX) with a diverse range of clients and presenting concerns.
