I provide evidence-based, effective, and collaborative psychotherapy for adolescents and emerging/young adults. My therapeutic style focuses on 1) exploration and understanding of your values, goals, and priorities, 2) elucidating adaptive and maladaptive patterns in your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and 3) helping you make behavioral changes to build a life for yourself which is more in line with your values and priorities. I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and incorporate aspects of other cognitive and behavioral therapies into my practice as appropriate. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and offer DBT-informed treatment. Your unique treatment needs are the focus. Have you struggled to find a therapist who respects and appreciates your identity *and* challenges you to make tough decisions? Whether you’re coping with anxiety or OCD, exploring your gender identity, dealing with family issues, or struggling with hoarding and clutter, get some answers with an experienced, queer- and trans-identified psychotherapist and published mental health author. My treatment approach is existential and humanistic. For anxiety, OCD, and hoarding, I use empirically-supportive cognitive behavioral techniques, including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). I'm trained in Gottman Method relationship therapy and use these techniques with my couples'/relationship/family therapy clients. Times of transition are exciting and challenging. Starting something new, moving through inflection points in your education and career, preparing for completion and uncertainty while you figure out what's next, are all important processes everyone hopes will go smoothly - but sometimes they can feel rocky. Even good changes or subtle shifts can feel unsettling, especially for highly sensitive people. If social, academic or emotional / mental health issues are stressing you and making it hard to feel confident and supported in working towards your goals, therapy can be a great tool to help increase understanding about "how it all works" and get support in developing patience and progress towards deepening clarity and commitment to your goals. Anxieties, insecurity, depression, difficult patterns in relationships or work, and problems focusing can be understood and changed, so you have more energy and confidence to devote to living. Become more connected to yourself and others through a specialized process of exploration with a trained professional, and see a difference in your life. A therapist’s expertise and experience are very important, but the *key* ingredient of effective therapy is a “good fit” between you and your therapist. If you’d like to meet and see how it would be to work together, I would be pleased to hear from you. Beginning work as a psychotherapist in clinic settings in 1995, I opened my private practice in 2002. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University, am a New York City based Licensed Clinical Social Worker (licensed in New York and New Jersey), and earned a certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the NYFS Institute.
We are a Gestalt Psychotherapy training Institute and offer low-cost therapy- our student rate is $40 per session. Sessions can be in person or virtual. See https://www.gestaltassociates.org/find-a-therapist for more info.
I am a psychotherapist in private practice in Manhattan. After finishing a Masters of Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania, I completed a four year post-graduate program at the William Alanson White Institute, a psychoanalytic institute in New York City. In my practice, I work with people who are experiencing a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety and relationship difficulties. I also work with individuals who are interested in improving their understanding of themselves or an aspect of their lives, or who want to be better able to make choices that lead to a sense of fulfillment. My goal is to provide a warm and collaborative relationship in which these topics can be explored. I believe that a successful therapeutic relationship is based on trust and can help bring about growth and change. I offer clinical supervision to psychotherapists in private practice and as part of the William Alanson White Institute's Intensive Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Training Program. I am also an Associate Editor for the academic journal Contemporary Psychoanalysis.
We aim to provide a warm and affirming space that focuses on individuals’ innate strengths and promotes self-acceptance. Through a collaborative and interactive approach, we support our clients by exploring their emotional health and engaging in the change process, to reach their fullest potential.

Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about what’s going on internally? Whether you’re wrestling with academic pressures, struggling to understand why certain tasks feel harder than they should, or wondering if there’s more to why you feel anxious or disconnected, I’m here to help you find clarity and answers. I’m a psychologist in New York City with a focus on assessments that go beyond surface-level challenges, helping students like you understand who they are and what they need to succeed. Many of the students who find testing helpful are motivated, thoughtful, and want to know themselves better. They may feel like no matter how hard they try, something still feels off, or they feel out of sync with others. If you’ve been wondering if there’s a reason behind your difficulties with focus, social interactions, anxiety, or even low moods, psychological testing can help reveal what’s happening beneath the surface. I work especially well with students who want a deeper understanding of themselves, so they can navigate college life, relationships, and personal goals with confidence. The results of testing shouldn’t feel like another test to understand. My approach is about making sense of what’s going on in a clear, accessible way. My goal is for you to feel equipped to take on college – and life – with greater self-awareness and practical tools that work for you.
I provide psychotherapy to teens and adults experiencing emotional and relational difficulties. I have specific experience working with young adults and LGBTQIA+ individuals. I am committed to maintaining a practice that is anti-racist and culturally aware.
