When things are difficult, it can isolate us, drain our emotional reserves, and limit our ability to look at things in new ways. I work to help clients appreciate the depth of their experience, and support them toward personal strength and healthier relationships. My style is open, collaborative, direct, and supportive. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years in private practice. I also served as adjunct faculty at the University of Rochester's Counseling Center for many years. I bring a range of approaches, but tailor my work to the specific needs of each client. My specialties include issues of loss and trauma, depression, anxiety, medical concerns, life changes, ADHD challenges, LGBTQ+ support, and stressful family or workplace relationships. Many of my clients work in arts-related or other creative fields. I look forward to meeting you!

It’s easy to feel stuck or broken when we’ve never had the space to allow all of our emotions, the support to feel them safely, and the perspective to view ourselves with compassion. But when we finally get those things, we get to evolve, grow and change in ways that can be truly profound. My job isn’t to force you to do anything, but to help you learn and build what you’ve needed, so that you can evolve in the ways you want to. If I can count on you to teach me about yourself, about what you feel, and what you're hoping for, you can count on me to listen, and to offer options for how we can pursue your goals. I offer an open approach that includes you in deciding what we do and why, so we can be sure we're working in ways that are both understandable and meaningful to you. So far, this approach has led to clear results for people experiencing PTSD, anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and recent traumas. As we collaborate, I can provide additional support via methods like EMDR, IFS, EAET, mindfulness, exposure, and body-based therapies. Call or email any time.

Therapy approach A relationship between you and your therapist is a primary ingredient fostering meaningful change and personal growth. My approach is warm, open, and empathic. I listen deeply and engage actively as is helpful. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe to be your authentic self, free from judgment. You decide whether this is a comfortable setting for you to grow. I am a psychotherapist (LCSW) with a PhD and advanced training from a four-year psychotherapy institute. While I have had the privilege of working with individuals across the lifespan, a majority of my clients have been college age through young career adults. They come from diverse cultural, gender, ethnic, religious, and spiritual backgrounds. I have supported them through challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, often related to issues of this age group: life transitions, family issues, career decisions, dating, parenting, identity, and loss. I draw from a psychodynamic perspective to understand your unique story, while incorporating therapeutic approaches that seem to us to be most helpful for you. Therapy focus I see therapy as a journey we take together. You bring your unique situation and goals. I provide travel skills based on having taken journeys with others. I have never, however, been to your desired destination. You determine the direction and duration of therapy; only you can decide what to focus on and when you feel ready to move forward. While present-day concerns may be paramount, exploring your past can provide valuable insight into your current situation. I interact with you to ensure I understand what you are saying and to help you more fully express your thoughts and feelings. I use a variety of techniques to assist in therapy including role play, homework, journaling, naming aspects of the self, labeling thoughts that are helpful or not to increase your skills in desired areas and decrease those that prevent progress to your goal. All feelings including tears, anger, joy, and laughter can be part of our work together. Communication style I like a relaxed atmosphere that allows us to communicate easily. I am curious. I like to listen. I like to smile but I am also serious. I reflect back to you what I think you are telling me, ask some questions to ensure that I more fully understand what you are saying, encourage you to delve deeper, and wonder with you about when your goals and your actions do not seem aligned. I get to know you not only by what you say but by feelings that may emanate from you. I am comfortable with a broad range of feelings. I support strength and empowerment. I encourage you to let me know what interaction with me is helpful to you and what is not helpful. My goal is to offer a compassionate, thoughtful space where you feel heard and supported. Therapy Goals My goal for you is that you can live fully in the present, understand aspects of your past as they impact the present, and move forward on a path that is best for you. You can let go of people, situations and thought patterns that are not helpful. You can seek and find people and situations that will support you. You can find satisfaction in life and laughter even though everything will not be perfect and parts of life could remain difficult. Our first session After an initial conversation to help us get to know each other, our work together begins. You share the concerns that brought you to therapy, current life situations, and relevant history. I seek to understand what you are telling me as you begin to develop goals for therapy. You let me know how I could be most helpful to you. We begin to explore avenues to your goals and how to measure the progress you seek. This conversation expands over sessions as you feel more comfortable in therapy and as aspects of your life become clearer to you. At the end of this initial session, you can assess whether we could work well together.
At times the stressors in life can be crushing and prevent us from achieving our goals, or even forming goals. Each person defines stress in unique terms that can produce anxiety; related to striving for perfection, or feeling alone, or persistent unhappiness with our appearance, or fearful, or overwhelmed by responsibilities. Sometimes one specific event can alter our lives forever; the loss of a loved one, sexual assault/abuse and rape, becoming the victim of violence and witnessing violence. My practice is centered on the belief that difficulties in our lives can be mended and lead to stronger well-being. I support young people to manage stressors by building a safe therapeutic relationship to do the hard work of alleviating hurt and changing the way we manage the barriers to success.
I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and school/college related issues, such as relationships, self image/concept, academics, and life transitions. I use a culturally informed, client-centered perspective when working with people to honor the way in which individuals' unique experiences have shaped them. I aim to provide a safe and genuine environment, where thoughts and concerns can be discussed confidentially. My experience as a school counselor has instilled my passion for helping students and families navigate the many challenges that are faced in and outside of the school setting. I partner with families, schools, healthcare providers, and other community resources to make informed treatment plan decisions and goals. As an advocate for holistic healing and growing, I also offer a yoga teaching informed perspective to support the mind and body connection in the counseling process. This is particularly useful when stress is an issue. Counseling can offer ideas and skills for working through everyday challenges in a more strategic way.

Hello, I help people with gaining clarity and understanding of themselves, their future, purpose, and meaning. Additionally, I can be helpful dealing with challenges in the present that get in the way of getting where you want to go. Sometimes it can be difficult to connect with our brigheness or gold and it takes an exploration of what is dark or shadowy in our lives or in ourselves to get to a place where we can shine once again. I have experience with this as well. Please reach out to ask any questions or find out more about what I have to offer.
We are a team of clinical social workers specializing in yoga/mindfulness, EMDR, and CBT. Our understanding is that in order to truly heal, we must honor our whole-body and mind working together. Many of our clients find that much of their suffering is stored throughout their bodies as anxiety, depression, and stress begin to take over. We support students as they navigate the unfamiliar and sometime daunting transition into adulthood and offer a warm, hopeful guide towards joy and purpose. Our virtual counseling services are available to individuals located in Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Vermont, Maine, Illinois, and California. We welcome you to get to know us, the services we offer, and reach out to schedule session.
Hello and thank you for visiting my practice page. The college experience can bring with it many changes and emotions. I know from personal times as a student that college and graduate school can be overwhelming, exciting and a wave of emotions and situations through the years. I am licensed in the states of NY and CT as a LCSW, I see students throughout NY and CT in person and through a HIPAA compliant Telehealth platform. Together we discuss, process and work on a variety of topics related to adjustments in life, anxiety, depression, trauma, eating related issued and body image, self-esteem, substance use, issues involving sports teams, Greek life related to sororities and fraternities, health issues, and many different relationship issues. I operate from a nonjudgmental, open and honest place drawing on a variety of therapeutic modalities. What stories shape your sense of self and the world? Have you found yourself stuck or disempowered by the stories you tell about yourself or others? With my unique background in mental health counseling and doctorate in English Literature, I approach therapy as a collaborative, meaning-making process informed by story, culture, and connection. I aim to make your life more robust by empowering you to widen narrative possibilities. Given my continued connection to educational spaces, I am especially interested in the stories we tell ourselves about education, learning, and development (and the stresses that come with expectations around perfectionism). My approach is shaped by a strong awareness of “systems,” including educational/academic systems, recognizing that personal suffering is inseparable from how we are shaped by cultural and historical contexts. Through attuned listening to your story across the systems you inhabit, I work to position you as the author of your own life. I undertake a collaborative, rather than authoritative role in my therapeutic work. I am interested in an array of identities and “concerns” such as grief, depression, anxiety, “disordered” eating, existential dilemmas, LGBTQ-facing issues, illness, transitions, attachment, academic experiences, etc. Likewise, I employ a variety of approaches in my work—ACT, DBT, psychodynamic, narrative therapy, creative arts therapies, Gestalt, psychodynamic therapy, Internal Family Systems. At the core, I utilize a reparative lens: rather than solely foregrounding wounds, I champion joy, resilience, and the potential for healing. I invite you to embark on this path forward with me as we build a therapeutic space for honoring the complexity of your story and work to cultivate wholeness.
