I work with relationship issues and sexuality, certified as a Relationship Therapist through the Gottman Institute of Seattle. I am also certified as a Sex Therapist through AASECT, the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists. Several years ago I realized I am autistic and now I address issues experienced by people who are autistic/ Asperger's or those who wonder whether they may carry that diagnosis. I also see people with other forms of neurodivergence such as ADHD. Originally I am from Boston and grew up in a working class family with a commitment to political activism. I am licensed in NY and FL as well as Oregon and Washington State. Although I offer some reduced fee spots I am sorry to say they are consistently full.

Hi all - My name is Erica and I've been a practicing clinical social worker since 2013. My approach to therapy is flexible because your needs every session may not look or sound the same every time. I'm ready to meet you where you are at. From students away from home for the first time, to adult-learners, Veterans, to musicians or doctoral-candidates, those of you looking for short-term solutions or long-term collaboration...however you identify I am committed to help. I want you to feel safe, empowered, and connected throughout your entire therapy experience. While life transitions, depression, anxiety, and interpersonal issues are my specialties, let's discuss what your needs are and how I can help. Outside of the therapy world, I enjoy reading, playing Fortnite, golfing, and spending time with my husband, our toddler, and our family and friends.

My goal is to help my patients find relief, whether it is falling asleep with ease, completing tasks confidently, being present and interacting with loved ones, or even coping with a difficult social settings. I received my doctorate degree as a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Columba University in 2020. While board certified to treat a diverse scale of symptoms, I have over 4 years of experience with children, as well as adults with substance use disorders. My main focus is medication management. However, I believe it is important to meet someone where they are at and provide psycho-education about various options for treatment, rather than dictating one path. Choosing a medication is a collaborative and fluid discussion where there may be more than one right answer. I believe in taking the time not only to complete comprehensive assessment of symptoms, but also explore the root of the symptoms. I strive to create the most thoughtful plan for each individual, with the patient as an active participant in their own treatment.

Many people don't seek help because of fear of stigma or they see no way out. My practice is geared towards helping students with all mental health concerns. My approach is comprehensive and integrated offering medications or therapy. If you're looking for a safe, non-judgmental space to address your needs, feel free to contact me.

College can bring pressure, transition, and a sense of disconnection from yourself or others. Many students struggle with anxiety, eating concerns, mood shifts, or feeling stuck in patterns that are hard to change alone. I work with students to understand what’s underneath these experiences and to build a steadier, more grounded way of navigating life.

College can intensify pressure to succeed, make the “right” choices, and hold it all together, often alongside anxiety, perfectionism, people pleasing, relationship issues, or concerns about food, body image, or control. I work with college students and young adults who appear high-functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of themselves on the inside. Together, we slow things down, identify patterns that keep you stuck, and build insight and skills that support real, lasting change. My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and tailored to you as a whole person, not a set of symptoms. I hold the CEDS-C credential, the highest certification in eating disorder treatment, and support students whose anxiety or perfectionism shows up around food, body image, or self-worth. Therapy can be a space to pause, feel understood, and reconnect with what matters most, without having to pretend you’re fine or push through alone.

I've been in the field of social services for over 25 years, and I've had the good fortune to work in many different settings and with a vast array of populations. As a therapist I create environments that help people feel safe and supported and assist people in building motivation towards positive change. My clinical work is grounded in research and evidence-based practices, and I always work at a pace that is tailored to your unique situation and goals. My approach to therapy is warm, individualized, compassionate, and flexible. I'm a humble man with a good sense of humor, and I'm sensitive yet direct when I communicate. I've received formal training in many of the psychotherapy models and have specialized in the treatment of addiction, depression, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, ADHD, shame, couples, anxiety, trauma, anger/rage, and relationship challenges. I use the Gottman method for Couples Counseling and find the strategies practical and easy to adopt. In the early stages of my career, I treated adolescents, families, and young adults, and over the last decade have had more clinical experience working with adults and couples. I've also managed clinical program settings, providing leadership and supervision. I'd be happy to set up an initial consultation to see if we would be a good match to work together.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with more than seven years of experience helping preteens, teens, and adults create lasting emotional well-being. My specialties include anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, emotional regulation, cultural adjustment, work burnout, and major life transitions. In our work together, I create a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and accepted. I look forward to supporting you in building resilience, discovering your inner strengths, and creating meaningful, lasting change. I’m passionate about helping patients recognize their strengths by developing practical skills and deeper self-awareness. We achieve this together through therapeutic techniques like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). My approach is collaborative and tailored to your unique needs, whether you’re seeking relief from emotional distress, wanting to strengthen relationships, or striving for personal growth. I believe that improving mental health goes hand in hand with enhancing your overall lifestyle and well-being. Working together, I provide a supportive space where you can better understand yourself, develop healthier coping skills, and work toward the life you want to live, all while identifying what's holding you back in order to move toward greater balance, confidence, and fulfillment. My path to becoming a therapist has been shaped by both professional achievement and personal transformation. I began my career as a physician in Iran, where I developed a deep appreciation for caring for others during the most vulnerable moments of their lives. After moving to the United States, due to personal circumstances I was unable to complete my residency. Although this was one of the most difficult periods of my life, it also led me through a profound period of self-reflection and growth. During this time, I realized that my true calling had always been psychotherapy, and that realization inspired me to pursue counseling, a profession that allows me to connect with people on a deeper emotional level and support lasting change. Today, as a mental health counselor, I combine my medical background with evidence-based approaches such as CBT and DBT to help patients improve their overall wellness. I enjoy gardening and caring for plants, exploring local coffee shops, going on nature walks, and traveling. I also love trying new healthy recipes, watching sunsets, and spending time outdoors.

I understand that many seek therapy during very difficult times, times when overwhelming life stressors and transitions begin to interfere with daily life, relationships, or a sense of well-being. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and psychotherapist, I’m here to help adults ages 18 and up develop practical tools and insight so these symptoms no longer dictate how they live. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with patients in overcoming mental health symptoms that impact day-to-day functioning. This includes discomfort in social situations due to anxiety, depression, or low motivation; or seeking treatment because of significant life challenges such as relationship discord, professional stressors and burnout, and loss. No matter the struggle, my goal is to assist in the development of tools and coping skills that help patients better manage emotions. If you relate to these struggles and are ready to hear more, please reach out today. Together, we will build practical tools, insight, and resilience so you can navigate challenges with greater confidence and clarity. I believe a strong collaborative relationship is key to helping you manage symptoms of anxiety and depression and move toward living the life you want. That’s why therapy with me is collaborative, respectful, and focused on creating a space where you feel heard and understood. Our time together is conversational, not clinical; I don’t use a lot of clinical jargon, as I feel that this approach allows for the clearest communication and reduces the presence of a power dynamic. When people ask me why I chose the field of social work and became a therapist, my answer is simple: it just seemed to fit me. My first introduction to social work and psychotherapy was during my second year of college. Of course, I had an interest in psychology, but I’ve also always had a keen curiosity about people and their stories. Social work and psychotherapy certainly allow me to combine those two interests. Still, it wasn't just the course work in those classes that caught my attention – it was the professors. They spoke with compassion about helping others in a way that was authentic and genuine. By the end of those classes, I'd found a profession that allowed me to be my authentic self and still help people. I enjoy live music and spending time at the beach when I’m not with patients. I'm also an avid hockey and baseball fan – go NY Islanders and Mets!

When life presents us with challenges and unexpected turns, we are given options for an opportunity for change; to not allow them to define our present or our future. Many of us face difficult situations that can get in the way of a full, satisfying life. Each individual has the strength within to grow and find a healthy balance. Sometimes, we need a little extra guidance to see that life's challenges can be transformed into healing opportunities. Therapy can offer a breath of hope to those who feel lost, stuck and alone. One of the most important factors in successful therapy is finding a therapist that you feel comfortable with. Therapy also provides exploration on learning how to find your true sense of self. Working together helps develop a better understanding of yourself, while re-claiming your personal strengths. It takes courage to start the process of building a trusting, therapeutic relationship. Finding the right fit in a therapist is a really important step. Telling your story and gaining a deeper understanding of yourself will have an enormous, positive impact. Let's connect to uncover your full potential.
