My practice is here to support those who need someone to talk, by being someone who will listen and can offer some help. It is a safe place to process and discuss your challenges, and to learn more about taking care of your mental health. Most often I am helping clients who are dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and just the difficulty of adjusting to life's stressors. Adjusting to the college experience, and the transition from college to the real world can be tough. I have found that clients have done well through these times when supported with process, education, skill building, and reflection. If you are interested please reach out. I offer free 15 minute consultations for all new clients who are interested. Currently I am accepting Self Pay, Highmark Plans, Blue Cross plans, Aetna, and Optum.
Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties, or the impacts of trauma? Do you wish you could show up differently in your life and with those you love? As we try our best to adapt to the world around us, we can sometimes develop patterns that are unhelpful or that no longer serve us in our current circumstances, which can lead us to feel stuck. I will work alongside you to build insight, foster self-compassion, and help you to identify your own internal resources for healing.
I am a Harvard-trained, Harvard-affiliated, board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. I strongly believe that the best psychiatric care is centered on the whole person, not just on a diagnosis or a specific medication. I provide weekly therapy and work with patients to determine if medications can be of help. I do not believe that everyone needs a medication, but they can be useful in treating particular psychiatric symptoms; I will work with you in order to find the best treatment modality that meets your goals and needs. My training in psychotherapy includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Exposure/Response Prevention (Ex/RP) and Prolonged Exposure (PE). I provide psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. In order to offer comprehensive treatment, I do not accept insurance in my private practice. I am currently conducting sessions via telemedicine only. Please feel free to send me an email to set up a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation so I can answer any questions and see if I can be of help.

Life burning down around you? Cool, grab a seat. Cry, laugh, drop a few F-bombs. Youāre safe here. Welcome to therapy! Iām a therapist, a professor, and a real human whoās lived through real things. I donāt do this work from a distance. Iāve moved through anxiety and depression. Iāve grieved the loss of people I love. Iāve gone through divorce. Iām raising a child with special needs⦠and all of that shapes how I show up for you. In my therapy space, we slow down. We breathe. We talk honestly. We laugh sometimes. We grieve sometimes. And we make room for the parts of you that youāve had to hide to survive. Therapy should reflect your inner world and the world you live in, so I bring a progressive, social justice-rooted perspective to my work. I see you as a whole person through a bio-psycho-social-cultural-spiritual lens. I am fat-positive, sex-positive, kink-friendly, and identity-affirming. I am client-centered and strengths-based. Going to therapy can be scary. Youāre pouring your life out to someone you donāt know. Youāre sharing things youāve never said out loud. That takes vulnerability. Folks trust me to hold some of the most complicated parts of their lives. Itās an honor, and I want to be a good vessel for that, someone who holds your story with care and compassion, and without judgment. I believe everyone should have access to affordable health and mental health care, so don't let the price deter you. Contact me to discuss our sliding scale. I also offer a no-pressure, first session to make sure it is a good fit!
Traumatic and other difficult experiences often cause us to isolate and fill us with self-doubt. People around you have no idea what you are dealing with, and you know better than to risk confiding in them, only to be misunderstood. Within a few sessions, we will build a rapport that can serve as a home for getting better perspective on the difficult experiences you have had. You will soon feel confidence and clarity of mind return, and you will see relationships improve. Online sessions provide you with the convenience you may need during these busy years.

The pandemic pushed many of us to take a step back from our lives and reflect. Once I realized I would be teaching and providing counseling online from home, it was important to me to create a physical space that provided the comfort I needed to be a support to my students and clients. As a nature lover, I set up my new home office with my desk facing my back yard. I began to notice all of the birds that frequented my yard and put up bird feeders to lure my backyard friends closer to my view. I quickly began to realize how much I enjoy watching the birds; not only are they beautiful, they each seem to have their own unique personality and behavior. Each day, I spend time watching the "regulars" - the house finches, goldfinches, and cardinals - happily chirp as they feast on the seed in the feeders. I delight in periodic visits from mourning doves, downy woodpeckers, mockingbirds, and wrens. These backyard birds have given me the opportunity to slow down and appreciate the here-and-now, noticing with intent sights, sounds, and feelings. The introspection I have done has led me to discover my desire to broaden the ways in which I support the wellness of others; Songbird Wellness was born out of this aspiration. My mission through Songbird Wellness is to improve the wellness of others via psychotherapy, group support and counseling, and education. As each bird finds its own way, I am committed to helping you navigate your flight to wellness, in whatever way that journey takes shape.

Do you feel like youāre failing at a "script" you never signed up for? When you find yourself in the space between rejecting old scripts but not yet knowing what your new scripts will be, the weight of the unknown can be paralyzing. Most challenges are fueled by a fear of being 'wrong.' I help you move past those 'right' and 'wrong' binaries and develop a deep relationship with your own intuition. When you are no longer fighting yourself, you have the energy to truly connect with others. I specialize in the topics that many therapists shy away from. I help individuals and couples reclaim intimacy by addressing desire differences, sexual "addictions", or performance anxiety. Whether we are navigating transitions into non-monogamy, or healing from infidelity, weāll work on the practical skills to help you say 'yes' and 'no' with confidence. I bring my lived experience as a Queer, Trans, Latine therapist to help you navigate the complex intersections of power and identity. My style is direct yet deeply kind; I provide the 'gentle accountability' needed to break old patterns. Iām not here to tell you how to live; Iām here to help you communicate your needs and find what actually works for you. Some areas I explore with clients include: - Men & Masculinity - Infidelity - Boundaries & Communication - Out of Control Sexual Behavior or "Sex Addiction" - Gender & Sexual Identity Development - Asexuality - Polyamory & Non-Monogamy - Divorce & Uncoupling - Multicultural Relationships - Parasocial Relationships - ADHD & Neurodivergence - Spirituality - Grief, Loss, & Transitions
