Therapists for college students near Houston, TX
Hi there, I'm Lindsay! Owner of Space to Be Therapy. In a world that can be complex and overwhelming, therapy can offer a space to process the load you’ve been carrying. I am passionate about supporting young people who are struggling with their mental health. Whether you’re struggling with grief, PTSD, anxiety, perfectionism, depression, people pleasing, self-harm, or other challenges, individual therapy can be a powerful tool for healing and change. I work with clients to provide a safe, nonjudgmental space to process painful thoughts and emotions. I help my clients slow down and unpack the emotional weight they’ve been carrying. I strive to honor clients' lived experiences, culture, and identity. LGBTQIA+ friendly practice! I use a trauma-informed and eclectic approach based in attachment and in-the-moment experiences. I am happy to tailor my style to your needs. If you’d like to learn more about how I can support you, we can discuss your goals and find an approach that fits your values and comfort level. One of the most challenging parts of therapy may be taking the initial step. If you are feeling ready to begin this work, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. I offer free 15-minute phone/video consultations. You can book a consult through my website!
There ISN’T anything “wrong” with you, you are human and you have lived experiences, some harder than others, but that is where working together to understand those parts of yourself can help! Life can be unpredictable, and at times, deeply challenging. But within each of us lies a quiet strength — Resilience. It's not about avoiding struggle, but about finding the courage to face it, adapt, and grow. In this space, we honor your story, your challenges, and your capacity to heal. Whether you're just beginning your journey or continuing along the path, we're here to walk with you — helping you reconnect with your resilience, one step at a time. At the heart of this work is a deep commitment to equity, justice, and collective healing. This is a space where all identities are seen, respected, and celebrated — where your full humanity is never up for debate. I practice from an anti-racist, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and decolonized lens, acknowledging the ways systemic oppression, intergenerational trauma, and cultural erasure impact our mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Healing does not happen in isolation — it happens in relationship, in context, and in community.

WELCOME! I'm so glad you're here. Many of the people I work with are adults who’ve carried more than their fair share — the ones who look capable on the outside but feel anxious or disconnected on the inside. They've usually spent years masking ADHD/AuDHD, are deeply sensitive, and/or are trying to heal from complex trauma (CPTSD). If this sounds like you, I want you to know you're not alone, and you don’t have to keep trying to “figure it out” by yourself. I won’t hand you a checklist or tell you to breathe it away - I promise! Therapy with me is about noticing what’s alive for you and finding ways to move through patterns that have kept you stuck. With over 25 years of experience, and decades dedicated to my own recovery, I offer both professional expertise and a deeply lived understanding to our sessions. I’m quirky, a little unconventional, and definitely human. In our work together, we'll go beyond simply talking about your life. I'll help you to shift out of over-thinking and connect with the wisdom of your heart and body. That’s where your strength and self-trust already live, and where the parts of you that know how to heal can be heard. My therapy dog, Leasel, often joins us, offering her calm presence when words aren’t enough. I draw from approaches like EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Therapy, integrated with Conscious Living principles. This work helps us uncover patterns that have been shaping your experiences and guides you toward change that's meaningful and actually lasts. Why I May Be A Good Fit For You I believe complex trauma shapes how we connect and move through the world—but those patterns can soften when we’re met with compassion and someone who’s been there. I grew up in a family that looked good on the outside but was marked by addiction and narcissism and it taught me how essential it is to be seen for who we truly are. I'm passionate about helping sensitive people know that hope is real, no matter what. I believe healing happens when we can be honest with ourselves and experience real connection. I show up as a real person—warm and down-to-earth. I also believe animals and nature offer healing when words fall short. I care deeply about neurodivergent folks, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, and creating space for anyone who’s ever felt like they're on the outside looking in. I look forward to connecting with you!
Are you the firstborn? Frustrated from juggling the demands of caregiving in your family? Do you find yourself constantly overwhelmed, struggling with sleep, or battling persistent fatigue that seems to linger no matter how much rest you get? I offer therapies that do not require much talking. I am a Certified Brainspotting Therapist, I am EMDR-trained, and offer Accelerated Resolution Therapy. Personally, I'm a nerdy, cat loving, Emptynester and Navy Veteran from Brooklyn, NYC.
Hi! I am excited that you have decided to reach out for help. My name is Dr. T. Navigating through life is already difficult and the pressure that comes with being a college student can make things harder. I too had to go through this stage in life. There are many things that have changed since I was a college student, however, there are many similarities between our experiences. Worrying about your grades, peer pressure, drugs and alcohol, issues at home with parents/caregivers, siblings and other family members, and your identity of simply trying to find out who you are is overwhelming. All these things can be scary, confusing, and even frustrating. The good news is that you don't have to go through the process alone. I can help and you can find comfort in knowing that what is said in my office, stays in office. As a professional I have had the opportunity to work in the military, daycare facilities, a community health center, a methadone clinic, parish jail, elementary and high school settings and private practice. My experience has prepared me to deal with a variety of issues and concerns while using an eclectic approach. I have gained an understanding that there is no cookie cutter way for every person. Everyone is unique even if they share similar experiences. Personally, I have dealt with family issues such as child abuse and neglect, psychological illnesses, drug and alcohol addictions, adoption, crimes consisting of theft and murder, and losing family members to the state's system. I have also had the experience of managing life while being the wife of an airman and a soldier in the US Army. These life experiences remind me that nobody asks for things to go wrong in their lives. It also helps me to remain humble because at any moment it could be me. Celebrate yourself in taking the first step to a new life that gains you the freedom you deserve. Keep in mind that although I am the professional you are the expert on your life. Together we will use your hope to effect change.
I earned a Master of Science in Nursing degree specializing in Psychiatry from The University of Texas at Arlington. I am proud to say I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I am a true believer that not one of my fellow humans is immune to stress, anxiety, and feelings of sadness at some point in their life. We all find ourselves feeling vulnerable at times. It is completely normal to question why we feel the emotions that we do, why we seem to fall apart at times, and better yet, how we can get through it all in one beautiful piece. I think the first step to meaningful recovery from anxiety, depression, complex mental illness, and/or substance use is to reach out and ask for help. It is a difficult, but very brave action. I am not one to judge, look down on, question your past experiences, or current situation. I am very good at rationally breaking down a situation and I can offer practical advice and medication suggestions depending on your goal in mind. As an LCSW, I specialize in helping teens and young adults navigate the challenges of life, including depression, anxiety, identity exploration, self-esteem, and the transitions that come with growing up. I also offer support for those struggling with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I take a client-centered approach, meeting you where you are and tailoring therapy to fit your unique needs. My goal is to create a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free space where you feel safe to explore your thoughts and emotions. I am fat-positive, sex-positive, LGBTQIA+ affirming, and deeply committed to inclusivity, helping you embrace your authentic self in a world that often pressures us to be anything but. I am also deeply passionate about Health at Every Size (HAES), dismantling diet culture, and supporting life-enhancing, joyful movement that honors your body. I believe that health and wellness should be about well-being, not conforming to societal ideals or restrictive norms. I use an eclectic blend of therapeutic modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Motivational Interviewing, and Narrative Therapy. I also incorporate expressive arts therapy to encourage creativity and self-expression. In addition to traditional therapy, I bring my dog, Finn, to sessions to offer extra support and comfort, creating a calming and compassionate space for healing. If you're looking to explore your true self, manage your emotions, or work through life’s transitions, I’m here to guide you on your journey!
