I am person-centered. I work collaboratively with clients, providing individualized care customized to address your needs and concerns. It is my belief that the client is the expert of their own lives, and I am along on the journey to provide the therapeutic support needed. I prefer to use trauma-informed, psychodynamic, and behavioral approaches to assist with achieving your goals.
You might have had a bad break-up, lost a friend or loved one, or are just struggling to cope with the daily motions, seeking greater insight about changing patterns or navigating a confusing time in your life. You might be carrying the weight of so many untold stories and unfulfilled dreams within you, buried beneath years of struggle. You might be moving through life, feeling so fundamentally different, flawed, and alone at times. You might be wondering, "When can I finally breathe easier?" I see you, and I'm here. Through the questions you've been navigating as you journey into the unknowns of your self and your life. I specialize in working with complex trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment issues, low self-esteem, and dating/ relationship challenges. I am passionate about working with those who identify as "outsiders," artists, and those navigating multicultural and identity exploration. Because each person is different, psychotherapy is an individual, unique process. I draw from a range of experiential and evidence-based approaches including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), psychodynamic therapy, and expressive arts therapies. In exploring therapy, you've taken a courageous step toward self-discovery, healing, and empowerment.
Hello, I'm a mental health counselor licensed in the state of NY. I have worked in community mental health since 2015 in both clinic and primary care medical settings. My clients have presented a wide range of concerns, including: depression, anxiety, OCD, grief, substance abuse, capitalism, fascism, and adjustment to life after incarceration. Regardless of what issues bring you to therapy, I work from the assumption that YOU are not the problem. Rather, the situation is the problem, and we work together to transform it. This process often involves shifting your view, giving yourself grace, and deepening compassion for yourself. Before graduate school, I was a community organizer and activist addressing issues of social, ecological, and economic concern; my undergraduate degrees are in Community Health and Peace and Justice Studies. I often use a systems perspective to address problems, and I have experience working with trauma related to systemic harm and oppression. I strive to be supportive and curious in my role as a counselor. Working in this field means that I learn (and unlearn) every day. I am honored to walk alongside the people who invite me into their lives, and I do my best to offer honesty and compassion in a safe and respectful way. I value broad access to psychotherapy and gladly offer a sliding fee scale.

My therapeutic style is based on cognitive behavioral therapy and integrates a variety of humanistic and strength-based modalities including mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy. The transition to college can feel overwhelming, exciting and full of possibility, yet also uncertain and stressful. So many young adults are struggling to adjust to new experiences like going to college and moving out. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed just thinking about living on your own and wondering how your friends are so easily moving out of their parents’ home. College sounds like a logical next step and you’re wondering how to make the leap. The idea of landing a job may seem scary and intimidating. Relationships with friends and partners may also be changing, leaving you lonely and uncertain. This can all result in your friends moving on with their lives and you feeling left behind. Trying to leave the comfort and security of the nest can be harder if you are battling old habits you have never looked at or believed you could change. Qualities like trying to be perfect, avoiding tough issues, putting things off and a lack of self-confidence can all add to the struggle of becoming more independent. Many young adults also suffer from severe anxiety, depression or past trauma. When we add in that life skills may not be your strong suit and you may depend on your parents more than other young adults your age do, you have the perfect recipe for failure to launch. Just recognizing what is happening is such a positive first step! Individual therapy is a great place to start for anyone struggling with failure to launch. One of my favorite things to help clients uncover is their spark; the thing in life you feel most passionate about! Let’s get you motivated and doing things you excel at. Learning healthier ways to cope, ditching old habits and feeling better about yourself will get you on track to creating a fun, happy and fulfilling life. Ready to start your journey toward “launching” your life? Then let’s chat! Reach out for your free 15 minute phone consultation. We can check in, I can see how you’re doing and answer your questions.

My work focuses on adults who experience relationship difficulties (romantic, with family, or friends), anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, academic concerns, and trauma - especially from relationships, prior domestic violence, family, and prejudices (i.e. sizeism, classism, xenophobia, sexism, racism, homophobia, neurodiversity discrimination). I see individuals and couples virtually or in person within a culturally sensitive practice. We recognize the nuanced experiences of marginalized people including people of color, immigrants, 1st gen college students, women, neurodivergent, working class, and queer folks. I see people as shaped by life experiences, relationships, identities, family, culture, and society. Plus we're unique individuals! Our work will consider all of this. I like to collaborate with my clients and strive to be honest, patient, flexible, nonjudgmental, warm, humble, curious, empathic, and social justice minded. I'm a neurotypical, cis, het, biracial, Black Puerto Rican woman from a working class, urban neighborhood. My approach is decolonial, anti-racist, LGBTQ+ affirming, immigrant allied, feminist, & trauma-informed. I'm a psychodynamic, relational clinician also trained in CBT, ACT, self-compassion, MI, and attachment. I'm physically located in Rochester, NY.

I want to be your partner in holistic Wellness. When we break a bone or become sick, we seek medical treatment. That the same care and attention should be given to our mental health. I believe that therapy is not just about addressing mental health issues—it's about nurturing the whole self, mind, body, and spirit. Therapy also looks different for everyone because our lives are shaped by our experiences, emotions, and somatic responses to everyday life. As your therapist, I will guide you with authenticity and warmth, helping you navigate your unique therapeutic journey.
Everyone faces challenges in life. But those challenges can be amplified during life transitions, such as seeking higher education. Anxiety, worry, and frustration are common reactions. Some days it can be hard to find hope amidst the stress of just trying to get through the day. My therapeutic techniques are enacted with collaboration and compassion and individualized to your needs. I use many techniques commonly found in applied behavior analysis (ABA), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). These can include goal setting, functional behavioral assessment, mindfulness skills, direct instruction, role-play and rehearsal, thought records, data review, journaling, and exploration of personal values. Together we will identify and use your strengths to make the changes that help you reach your goals.

When life presents us with challenges and unexpected turns, we are given options for an opportunity for change; to not allow them to define our present or our future. Many of us face difficult situations that can get in the way of a full, satisfying life. Each individual has the strength within to grow and find a healthy balance. Sometimes, we need a little extra guidance to see that life's challenges can be transformed into healing opportunities. Therapy can offer a breath of hope to those who feel lost, stuck and alone. One of the most important factors in successful therapy is finding a therapist that you feel comfortable with. Therapy also provides exploration on learning how to find your true sense of self. Working together helps develop a better understanding of yourself, while re-claiming your personal strengths. It takes courage to start the process of building a trusting, therapeutic relationship. Finding the right fit in a therapist is a really important step. Telling your story and gaining a deeper understanding of yourself will have an enormous, positive impact. Let's connect to uncover your full potential.

I am happy to meet with you to figure out if I can be the person who can support you in this journey. I follow an integrative, relational, psychodynamic approach, incorporating cognitive-behavioral, systemic, multicultural/feminist, and experiential concepts.
